Services Available
At Southwestern, we offer quality mental health services designed
to treat individuals with a variety of issues. Our diverse team of
psychiatrists, nurses, psychologists, therapists, case managers, and
mental health technicians brings a wealth of education and experience
to the treatment settings described below:
Outpatient Services
Most emotional and mental health problems are treated in an outpatient
office setting. Outpatient Services are available to any adult, child,
or family for crisis intervention, problem assessment, and ongoing
treatment. Services are provided in an atmosphere of empathy and support
at our six outpatient locations in Gibson, Posey, Vanderburgh, and
Warrick Counties.
Emergency Services
We offer 24-hour emergency evaluations, crisis interventions, and
counseling for people of all ages with mental health and/or substance
abuse problems. During normal office hours, Emergency Services are
available at any of our six outpatient offices in Gibson, Posey, Vanderburgh,
and Warrick Counties. After normal office hours and on weekends, services
are available by phone (812) 423-7791.
Inpatient Services
When a patient is experiencing mental illness symptoms that require
24-hour per day supervision, the patient may be hospitalized at Deaconess
Hospital or Deaconess Cross Pointe, both in Evansville, Indiana. Treatment
may include medication, individual therapy, family counseling, group
therapy, recreational therapy, intensive outpatient treatment, and
post-hospitalization treatment planning. Although patients are treated
at Deaconess, Southwestern physicians and staff are part of the treatment
team.
Youth Day Treatment Program
The Youth Day Treatment Program is a psychiatric partial hospitalization
program for children ages five through twelve who are diagnosed as
having a serious emotional disorder. During the normal school day,
children receive both classroom instruction and treatment, including
individual, group, and activity therapy, for their behavior problems.
Located on Evansville's west side, the Youth Day Treatment Program
is provided in cooperation with the Evansville-Vanderburgh School
Corporation and serves as the child's school placement for part or
all of the school year. It is available to children from other counties
based on an agreement with the local school corporation and Southwestern.
Youth Outreach Program
Through the Youth Outreach Program, children who are at risk of placement
in residential care or in a state-operated facility receive wraparound
services and intensive community-based interventions so that such
placements can either be eliminated or reduced in duration.
