Stepping Forward: Transitional Residential for Women (ASAM 3.1)

Stepping Forward for Women (SFW) is a low-intensity, long-term residential program focused on stability and transition.

  • Structure: A three-phase program serving up to 10 women, requiring a 90-day commitment.

  • Specialized Care: Priority admission is given to pregnant women. Mothers may stay through their pregnancy and after birth (up to 6–12 months) as they work toward independent living.

  • Support: 24-hour support including case management, therapy, and peer services.

  • Certification: Level IV Recovery Residence certified by the Indiana Affiliation of Recovery Residences (INARR).

Beyond Treatment: Sober Living for Women

Recovery doesn’t end when a program is completed; it’s a lifelong journey. Our Sober Living environments provide a safe, alcohol- and drug-free housing option for women who have completed residential treatment and are ready to practice their recovery skills in a real-world setting.

Building Independence in Community

Our sober living homes are designed to empower women as they transition back into the workforce, education, and family life. These residences offer:

  • Peer Support: Live alongside a community of women who share similar goals and provide mutual accountability.

  • Structured Freedom: While residents have more independence than in residential care, they benefit from regular drug screening and house meetings.

  • Skill Application: A space to practice financial management, healthy habit-building, and conflict resolution with the safety net of a recovery-focused environment.

  • Continued Connection: Residents remain closely connected to Southwestern’s outpatient services and peer recovery coaches to ensure a seamless transition.

Our Goal: To provide the stability and sisterhood necessary to prevent relapse and foster long-term, sustainable wellness.
